Light snow Saturday - First Significant Snowfall Monday PM-Tuesday AM.

Saturday will be our first true wintry day this year with temps in the teens and 20s and on and off light snow throughout the day. We expect a coating to an inch for most with up to 2" in the Litchfield hills with some enhancement in the snowfall rates there. The peak of the snow will be from 12-4pm Saturday.

After that all eyes will be on what will likely be our first plowable and significant snowfall for much of the state this winter season. Better late than never?

Timing will be 9pm Monday - 9am Tuesday. Heaviest snow rates will be 12am-6am Tuesday. School delays and closings are likley.

Heres an idea of the possible range of outcomes for snow accumulations. One caveat will be snow growth quality which we will dig into more on Sunday and fine tune our forecast.

Here is the European ensemble forecast 10th percentile which is a reasonable lower end of the snow potential and 90th percentile which is a reasonable higher end of snow potential. Keep in mind this is at a 10:1 snow ratio, if we find the snow growth is better or worse than 10:1 as we get closer to the storm then the forecast will need to be adjusted, however 10:1 ratio is always a good place to start.
